The English soccer club Manchester United was recently accused of a double negotiation after finishing the sponsor negotiations with Mansion, an online casino group.
Mansion confirmed that the conversations they had about a $200 million deal have finished irreversibly. According to Mansion’s spokesmen, the company realized that the Manchester had been talking to other potential partners.
David Kinsman, a spokesman from the online casino Gibraltar, said the Mansion was extremely disappointed about the way the United had ended the negotiations of the sponsor contract and that it was surprised that the discussion had finished so close to the agreement.
He added that he had shortened a business trip to get together with the Sales Director of the club, Andy Anson, after they made him think the deal was practically closed.
Mansion was supposed to replace Vodafone as the club’s sponsor t-shirt. The telecommunications leader recently unmade the contact with the Manchester United; their logo is programmed to be erased for next season.
In response to the accusations, the club answered that they had never promised exclusiveness to any of the future sponsors and that everybody involved knew about the several negotiations that had been taking place.
